Hyde B.J. (2012) A description of two Phragmoteuthid coleoid cephalopods from the Lower Jurassic of Lyme Regis, Dorset and the importance of well intended forgeries // The Geological Curator V.9(8). P.441-446.

pdf: http://www.geocurator.org/arch/Curator/Vol9No8.pdf#page=25

The rediscovery of two fossil "cuttlebones" from Lyme Regis within the stores at Manchester Museum, prompted a reappraisal of the material to discern its nature. This reappraisal has shown the "cuttlebones" to be soft bodied coleoid cephalopods of the genus Phragmoteuthida, considered to be the ancestors to the modern squid Sepiida. Though their Phragmoteuthida affinity could be confidently identified the age of the species and stratigraphy remains unknown due to the poor preservation of the phragmocone, pro-ostracum angles, and the lack of data originally recorded in relation to the specimens.
