The paper briefly discussed the issues of the morphometric study of coiled cephalopod shells: history, basic methods and approaches. The main attention is concentrated on the method proposed bу American paleontologist David Raup. А description of the new computer program "Raupology" includes applications, operating and results. The program is а collection of automation tools for Raup method and it allow for the measurement of important morphological parameters of coiled ammonoid shells on their photographs, mathematically analyzing, statistically processing and data storage for further investigations.
