This work was written by 76-year old professor emiritus and academician E. Eichwald, who joined together in one monograph much data concerning Cenozoic-Mesozoic of Mangyshlak and Alsaka with Aleutian Islands. Many different animal and plant remains, from serpulids to vertebrates, were described and figured, including some important taxa.
