Kimmeridgian and Volgian ammonites from the Belgorod region are reviewed. These ammonites are mainly occurred in drill cores but missing in outcrops or quarries; only few were figured or described till the present time. This paper is focused on ammonite collection from cores which were chosen as types for two Mid Volgian formations, but in fact characterized by occurrences of the Upper Kimmeridgian ammonite assemblages, because Kimmeridgian Sarmatisphinctes were misidentified as Volgian Dorsoplanites and Zaraiskites
