In this paper three sections located at the Russian platform, which were proposed as possible GSSP candidates, are briefly reviewed. These are Prosek section (Nizhni Novgorod area, proposed by Kiselev & Rogov, 2007 for Callovian), Dubki section (Saratov area, proposed during the VII Jurassic congress by Kiselev et al. for Oxfordian), and lectostratotype of the Volgian Stage, Gorodischi section Dubki section (Ul'yanovsk area, proposed during the VII Jurassic congress by Rogov et al. for Tithonian). All these sections are characterized by continous succession of the transitional beds and rich in ammonites. Prosek section also provides well cyclostratigrahy and magnetostratigraphy, but all carboinate fossils except those from concretions were dissolved due to weathering, and molluscs are preserved as sandy/clayey moulds only. Dubki section characterized by rich and diverse ammonite succession; ostracods, forams, nannofossils and belemnites were also studied in detail. This section also was successfully sampled for magnetostratigraphy. Results of its intergral stratigraphical study will be sooner published in Volumina Jurassica, vol. VI, 2009). Gorodischi section is one of the best studied Jurassic sites of the Russian Platform. The Kimmeridgian/Volgian boundary interval was accurately sampled for microfossils (forams, ostracods, nannofossils), geochemistry and paleomagnetics. Its paleomagnetic characteristics perhaps most full for the Ki/T boundary (Pimenov, unpubl. PhD Theses)
