The system of family Oxytomidae Ichikawa, 1958 (Bivalvia) is analyzed. The taxonomic weight of morphological characters of existing classifi cation is discussed. Classifi cation of species, subgenera and genera within the family is accompanied by determining pools of specifi c characters. The genera Meleagrinella Whitfield, 1885 and Arctotis Bodylevsky, 1960 are revised and their diagnosis is refi ned. The description of two new subgenera is given: Meleagrinella (Praemeleagrinella) subgen. n. (Hettangian–Aalenian) and Arctotis (Praearctotis) subgen. n. (Toarcian–Aalenian). These genera are described on a material from Jurassic–Cretaceous sections of Eastern Siberia. A refined bulk of the genera Meleagrinella Whitfield, 1885 and Arctotis Bodylevsky, 1960 is provided.
