This paper presents a new interpretation of some genera of Taormina’s ammonite fauna (Fucini, 1929-1931) i.e. “Praeleioceras”, “Leioceras”, “Ovaticeras”, “Pseudoleioceras”, “Murleyiceras”. The quantitative analysis of shell dimensions and rib-density of the specimens emphasizes that all these genera established by Fucini can be assimilated to the genus Lioceratoides and to the species L. grecoi, L. hoffmanni and L. schopeni. Moreover in these species, it is possible to recognize two morphotypes : the former characterized by dense ribs, the latter by distant ribs. I presume there is also a connection between small (resp. large) size and dense (resp. distant) ribs.
