In this study, 31 samples from three key sections where it is possible to observe the Middle–Upper Jurassic transition in the northern part of the Lusitanian Basin were analyzed (Total Organic Carbon and Palynofacies): Cabo Mondego (Figueira da Foz), Pedrógão (Praia de Pedrogão, Vieira de Leiria) and Vale de Ventos (Maciço Calcário Estremenho). The objective of this work is to demonstrate the high palaeobiological dynamics associated to the rapid palaeoenvironmental changes that characterize the mainly non-marine carbonate depositional environments of the Cabaços Formation. A detailed analysis of these series shows that both the Total Organic Carbon and the kerogen assemblages present a great variation between relatively close depositional environments and along narrow vertical intervals. These variations are probably related to changes in base level and/or preservation conditions. Generically, marine influence decreases from north to south, that is, from the Cabo Mondego towards the Maciço Calcário Estremenho
